Our Vision
It is our intention at Hullavington Primary School to provide a broad and balanced curriculum for all children. Children who have a ‘gift’ or ‘talent’ are entitled to a curriculum which stimulates their mind and continues to motivate their learning, this is clearly outlined in the schools teaching and learning policy.
We will promote the self esteem of children who are most able or who have a talent, acknowledging and celebrating their individual needs providing happiness and balance in order to develop the ‘whole child’.
We will provide the most effective support we can for children with a gift or a talent by:
- Providing guidance and information to parents on how to support their child's next steps
- Recommending pupils to attend specific workshops matched to their strengths (these may be provided by an outside agency such as Braeside Education Centre (Devizes) and Kilve Court (Somerset)
- Developing independence in learning
- Teaching children how to use a range of mind maps as a tool for targeting their own learning
- Providing opportunities for developing problem solving techniques to deepen knowledge
- Carefully planning lessons ensuring there are strategies for extending children’s thinking.(Wondering questions, time for reflection)
