Below is a planning overview for the next academic year, including the different topics and spellings we will be studying.
Spellings
Every Friday, the children will be introduced to their new spellings for the week. The list of 10 words will be stuck into their reading record, so that you are able to help them practise at home. As well as learning to spell their words, we will also be focusing on understanding the meaning and putting the words into context. The spelling test will take place the following Friday and will be 5 random words from the list. The results will be written in the reading record next to the list, and any incorrect spellings will be higlighted so that you can easily see how well your child is doing.
Reading
Each child has a reading record and we ask that this come into school every day. Everytime your child reads aloud to an adult at home, this can be recorded in their reading record and signed by an adult. Please do try to discuss the meaning of words and the texts as they are reading aloud to you, as comprehension is something we are really working hard on!
Times Table Rockstars
Each child has their login stuck into the first page of their reading record. Each week, the first 15 minutes will be restricted to ‘garage’ mode. Once that has been completed, all modes will be available.
PE
PE is on a Monday (cricket) and Wednesday (badminton). On these days, please can you make sure that your child is in PE appropriate clothes with long hair tied back.
