News this week - weeks commencing 10th & 17th July 2017

Two of the classes held open classrooms - Hawks and Eagles.  The children provided some impressive work this term, we hope you got to see a selection of the topics they have been working on.  Little Hoots had their end of year party and graduation ceremony.  Mad Pete provided the entertainment and all the children had a fantastic time.  KS2 went on their trip to the RAF Fairford Air Tattoo - there are some pictures below so you can see the things they did and saw.  Thank you to Mr Slinn for organising the trip and for all the parents who came along as helpers on the day.  Finally the HSA had their summer disco on Friday evening followed by the Year 6 Leavers Party at 8pm.  Thank you to the HSA and Mr Slinn for arranging both of these - we hope the children had fun.

Well the final week was certainly a busy one!  We had 3 performances of Ocean Commotion - we hope you all managed to come along and see the show.  The staff and children worked extremely hard towards putting on a great show, so we hope you all enjoyed it.  Thank you to all the parents who helped their children learn their lines and provided great costumes for them.  The last day of term saw the Year 6's having their Leaver's assembly and running round school getting signatures on their tops and autographs in their books.  This is always a tearful occasion for all involved, but we wish them all the best of luck as they move onto to their new Secondary Schools.

We also said goodbye to 3 members of staff - Miss Jackon, Miss Gilbert and Mrs Bance.  We hope they will be very happy in their next chapters and we hope to see them again.  In September we welcome 3 new members of staff - Mr Sam Jones will be the Hawk Owls class teacher, Miss Hannah Smith and Mrs Nadine Eaton will be teaching assistants.  I'm sure you will give them a friendly welcome when you see them.

Lastly, Miss Sophie Pearce gets married in the summer holidays and will return to us in September as Mrs O'Callaghan.  Good luck Sophie, we hope you have a fantastic day.

As you will have seen we now have a Playpod on the playground.  This has been funded by a National Lottery grant.  The Scrapstore Playpod is a holistic process that works with the entire school community to transform play at lunchtimes.  It encourages creativity, enables children to use their imagination and self risk assess as they play.  All our staff have been trained by Playpod staff and oversee the play at lunchtime.

We send home a weekly newsletter each Friday in term time to keep you up to date with school events.
