School Lunches
Your child has the option of bringing a packed lunch or having a hot school dinner.
hot School Lunches
We have a new supplier for our School dinners called Caterlink and all meals are freshly cooked on site every day. Meals cost £2.50 each. If your child is in Reception or Key Stage 1 then the meals are free under the government Universal Infant Free School Meals initiative (UIFSM). Please see further details below.
All meals need to be pre-ordered by the Thursday of the week before using our online system, Parentpay. You will be given an activation code when you first join the school. The current menu can be found below.
Allergens
Caterlink takes allergen compliance very seriously and has a robust system in place. Full training is provided to our catering staff. If your child has a food allergy or intolerance you will be asked to complete a form to ensure we have the necessary information to cater for your child. We use a large variety of ingredients in the preparation of our meals and due to the nature of our kitchen it is not possible to completely remove the risk of allergen cross contact.
free school meals
Your child may be entitled to Free School meals if you are in receipt of certain benefits. Please see the link below which explains this in more depth and how you can apply.
packed Lunches
Hullavington CE Primary and Nursery School is food allergy aware. As a result, we request that children do not bring any products which contain nuts into school, including items containing foods such as Nutella or peanut butter.
We would ask you to also ensure that the lunchbox does not contain fizzy drinks or confectionary items.
Universal Infant Free School Meals (UIFSM)
You may be aware from the news and media that with effect from 1 September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 will be entitled to a free hot school meal.
This follows a recommendation in the School Food Plan, an independent review published in July 2013, which aims to ring about a significant increase in the numbers of children eating good food in schools. The aim is to improve academic attainment and to save families money – an average family spends £400 on school lunches per year for each child.
This initiative does not apply to the KS2 children (years 3, 4, 5 & 6). Hot meals will continue to be available to buy for children in these year groups; they currently cost £2.50 per meal. Meals will also still be available for children in these year groups who are entitled to Free School Meals.
If you want your child to have a hot meal, you will still need to pre-order them by the Thursday of the week before even if the meals are free for your child. Please contact the school office if you have any queries.
